At Ital Preservation, we provide expert guidance in records management and historic preservation with a heartfelt dedication to family and community heritage. We specialize in preserving family histories and the materials of community-based archives, museums, and religious and cultural organizations and institutions.

Gabrielle Hutchins, Ph.D.

Founder and Lead Archivist

Dr. Gabrielle Hutchins is a scholar of African American, Caribbean and Latin American history with over ten years of professional experience in the field of archival science and public history. She earned her doctoral degree in Caribbean and Latin American history from Howard University. Gabrielle’s concentration is immigration, civil rights, and migration of West Indian, African American, and Latin American farm laborers. With strengths in activism, leadership, education, and organization, Gabrielle pursued her passion by founding Ital Preservation, a public history consulting firm.

Her initiatives are making a significant impact on minority based businesses and organizations to help them keep their legacy going, accurately manage, and preserve their histories. As a historian, her mission is to help educate and candidly spread awareness about our history to the community. As an archivist, Dr. Hutchins is meticulously concerned with the accurate documentation and availability of records, files, and collections of various related materials.

Jametta A. Davis, Ph.D.

Strategic Partner and Director of Storytelling & Programming

Dr. Jametta A. Davis  is a public historian, storyteller, educator, and speaker with over twenty years of professional expertise in history, archives, training facilitation, and cultural education and programming. She is deeply committed to amplifying voices through the power of storytelling and focuses on creating spaces where individuals and communities are supported in documenting and sharing their lived experiences and histories.  

Through the use of oral history, archives, and creative, participatory storytelling, Dr. Davis engages diverse groups and communities in workshops, curated experiences, and documentary projects that connect generations with their heritage and culture. Her work centers collaboration and creativity, ensuring that stories are not only preserved, but experienced as sources of reflection, understanding, and collective empowerment.

TaKeia N. Anthony, Ph.D.

Chief Information Officer and Director of Digital Archiving and Records Management

Dr. TaKeia N. Anthony is an Associate Professor of History and CESKKA Academic Support Liaison at Kentucky State University. Her areas of expertise are Mobilized African Diaspora and Archiving. She has lectured and spoken on panels throughout the United States, South Korea, The Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Columbia, London, and Ghana, and also curated the archival records of the James Weldon Johnson Branch (Jacksonville, FL) of The Association for the Study of African-American Life and History (ASALH).

Dr. Anthony has published several articles, book chapters, and a historical spoken word album titled Dr. TaKeia Speaks: The Inception. Her most recent publication is a book titled, The Universal Ethiopian Students’ Association, 1927-1948: Mobilizing Diaspora (Palgrave MacMillan, 2019).  This research expands the study of the African Diaspora by illuminating the mobilized diaspora and the UESA.  As a current 2019-2021 Duke-NCCU Digital Humanities Fellow, Dr. Anthony’s forthcoming project is a digital history titled, “The Pioneers: A History of North Carolina Central University.”
